your mentor when it comes to buying and selling
as well as management of surgeries and hospitals.

Dear fellow doctors,

The setting up of, or withdrawal from, a practice are linked to numerous legal and economic questions, whereby many personal aspects regarding life planning must also be taken into account. Many doctors are overwhelmed by this task and turn to professional advisors – lawyers, accountants, practice intermediaries, insurance advisors.

There is often a problem here: these advisors frequently seem to be driven by commission interests or speak a language one does not really understand as a doctor – every industry has its own jargon, as we do as doctors. One does not feel that one’s concerns are properly taken on board, cannot even understand the proposed solutions, and may follow them with a feeling of unease.

An intermediary who knows both worlds and who speaks the language of lawyers and business economists as well as that of doctors is required.

This is where we come in.

We, that is primarily myself: I was appointed to the Chair of Dermatology and Venereology at the University of Ulm in 1997, which at that time was still linked to the management of the dermatology department of the Bundeswehr Hospital Ulm. In 2002, after the dissolution of the joint sponsorship between the University Hospital and the German Armed Forces, I decided not to take over either of the two resulting hull departments, but to venture something completely new. I became a doctor-entrepreneur and acquired the Dr. Berg Vascular Hospital from its founder, Dr. Dagmar Berg. I transformed it into a dermatological-surgical centre (in 2005 we founded the second MVZ ever in Baden-Wuerttemberg) and managed it for 18 years as managing majority shareholder, the last four years as sole shareholder.

In 2012, I sold the clinic, and when the acquiring group itself was about to become the victim of a hostile takeover by a larger group, I bought it back in order to save it from takeover just to sell it again in 2020.

I am therefore familiar with both the problems and opportunities of hospitals and those of a resident practice and have successfully gone through the ups and downs of buying, building up, and developing as well as selling a hospital with affiliated practices/MVZ myself. So I know what is important with these kinds of transactions.

We, my partners and I, are: experienced business economists, lawyers specialising in medical and corporate law, with whom I have been working together in a spirit of trust for over a decade. Of course, if you so wish, we can always work with your own experts to manage the process.

Contact me: make a first, non-binding and free consultation appointment with my assistant, Mrs Irnya Demir (lawyer) at Reuttier Castle, in the Blausteinklinik, or in your own practice.

With warm collegial greetings
Prof. Dr. Dr. Ralf U. Peter KCR
